After picking up her first microphone, it was clear Lyric was a child prodigy. She would later share the stage with gospel, R&B, jazz, and pop Grammy winners such as Vicki Winans, Richard Smallwood, Gloria Estenfan, Al Green and Wynton Marsalis.
Classically trained, Lyric won the America’s Best Gospel Artist Award. During her senior year in high school, she was voted Most Talented at a 3,000+ student magnet high school for the performing arts in suburban Washington, D.C. As a featured soloist in Uprising and Children of the Gospel, Kennedy Center audiences were often moved to tears by the passion expressed in her vocal range, rivaled only by a few vocal greats. She signed her first recording contract while still in high school, but put her career on hold to study music at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. Her school days are over now and Lyric is ready to become the newest break-out artist to hit the scene.
Lyric has performed for presidents, on national television and performed in several countries around the world. She currently spends much of her time crafting her new CD entitled, “Lyric’s Message”. While working on this project, she still finds time to develop the next generation of artists by serving as a voice coach for young children. Influenced by Whitney Houston, India Arie, Stevie Wonder, Carl Thomas, Joe, Donnie Hathaway, and Lauryn Hill, Lyric has a unique yet mainstream pop and R&B sound that is sure to wow audiences all over the world.
